It is with deep sadness that the County of Brant and its residents acknowledge the passing of former Mayor Ron Eddy, a dedicated public servant whose leadership and vision helped shape the community for decades. His loss is being felt across the region by those who knew him, worked alongside him, and benefited from his unwavering commitment to public service.

Ron Eddy devoted much of his life to serving the people of Brant. His distinguished career included roles as Reeve of the Township of South Dumfries and Warden of the County of Brant, positions he held with integrity and purpose for sixteen years. He also served as a Member of Provincial Parliament, representing his constituents with a strong voice and a deep understanding of local needs.

Following the 1998 amalgamation, Ron Eddy became Mayor of the County of Brant, a role he held until 2018. During this transformative period, he played a pivotal role in uniting former townships into a cohesive single-tier municipality. His leadership helped establish Brant as a “community of communities,” fostering collaboration, growth, and a shared identity among residents.

Mayor Eddy was also a passionate advocate for agriculture, recognizing its importance as a cornerstone of the local economy.
